Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in Brazil and worldwide. Medical intervention in the early hours after the event is essential to reduce sequelae and mortality. This study aimed to review the main types of stroke hemorrhagic and ischemic in the context of medical emergencies and describe updated clinical approaches.
