Abstract

This article argues that migration contributes to the economic development of any country in the world. Taking the case study of Maputo city, this article shows that the commitment of foreign migrants residing in Maputo city in promoting small and medium-sized enterprises has positive effects: provision of useful goods and services for the city's population. Such effects are also reflected in the growth of GDP and the balance of payments, thus indirectly contributing to the reduction of poverty in Mozambique.
