Abstract

This article investigates the application of emerging technologies—specifically Building Information Modeling (BIM), Parametric Design, and Augmented Reality (AR)—in the context of interior design aimed at the retrofitting of existing residences. The study analyzes how the integration of these digital tools allows for precise simulation of environmental performance and material optimization, reducing waste in construction and increasing the energy efficiency of the housing stock. The methodology comprises a critical review of literature on design digitalization and case studies on the application of new smart materials. The results demonstrate that interior design technology is not merely aesthetic but an essential applied science for urban sustainability and the economic viability of housing renovations.
