Peer Review Process
RCMOS adopts a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that the identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the editorial process. The evaluation procedure follows the steps described below:
- Initial evaluation – technical desk review
This stage is conducted by the journal’s Technical Team and consists of verifying compliance with the Author Guidelines. Aspects related to submission requirements, metadata, manuscript formatting, and possible duplicate authorship are examined. If inconsistencies or non-compliance are identified, the article may be archived, and the authors will be notified.
- Next stage – double-blind peer review (blind review)
Manuscripts submitted to RCMOS are evaluated according to criteria such as methodological rigor, grammatical and writing quality, originality, authorship, creativity, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope.
If the manuscript does not comply with the journal’s editorial policy, it will be archived, and the authors will be informed.
When the manuscript is deemed suitable, it proceeds to the double-blind peer-review process (blind review). At this stage, ad hoc reviewers are assigned based on the article's subject. Reviewers are preferably professors and researchers affiliated with stricto sensu postgraduate programs from national or international institutions.
For publication, the manuscript must receive two positive evaluations. In the event of a disagreement between reviewers, the manuscript may be forwarded to a third evaluator.
Reviewers may recommend:
- Acceptance of the article;
- Request for revisions;
- Rejection of the manuscript.
All decisions are justified through a formal evaluation report completed via a review form.
- If the manuscript receives two negative evaluations, the article is archived.
- If two reviewers recommend acceptance, the article proceeds to the next editorial stage.
- If revisions are requested, the manuscript is returned to the authors for revision and subsequent re-evaluation.
The final decision regarding the issue in which the article will be published rests with the editor.
Accepted articles will be published online in PDF format after the completion of the peer review process and later assigned to a specific issue of the journal. After publication, no modifications to the PDF files will be permitted.
