Impact of BAPM digital on operational efficiency and management of services of the military police of Pará

Abstract

Public safety is one of the main challenges facing Brazilian public administration, marked by high rates of violence, the expansion of organized crime, and a sense of social insecurity. In the state of Pará, the Military Police of Pará (PMPA) play a fundamental role in visible and preventive policing, focusing on preserving public order and preventing criminal offenses. Historically, the recording of police activities was done using physical forms, which hindered information management and institutional strategic planning. Given these limitations, this study aims to analyze how the use of the Digital Military Police Service Report (BAPM Digital) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), integrated into the Integrated Police Management System (SIGPOL), contributes to operational efficiency and improved information management in the PMPA of Pará. This is mixed methodological research, both qualitative and quantitative, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, based on a literature review and document analysis. The results indicate that the adoption of BAPM Digital and other ICTs promotes greater agility in operational records, optimizes the organization and sharing of information, and strengthens coordination among public security agencies. Despite the progress, challenges related to technological infrastructure, continuous professional training, and ethical and legal aspects persist. Therefore, the strategic adoption of ICTs, combined with effective public policies and ongoing training for security agents, enhances institutional integration and contributes to strengthening actions to combat organized crime in Pará.
