The adoption of plant-based dietary protocols has emerged as one of the most effective strategies for the primary prevention of Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCDs), such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and specific types of cancer. This nutritional framework, centered on whole plant-based foods, demonstrates measurable impact on systemic inflammation reduction, metabolic modulation, improved insulin sensitivity, and microbiome balance — core mechanisms in the pathophysiology of NCDs. This article analyzes, from a clinical and epidemiological perspective, the leading scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of plant-based nutrition at a population level, aligned with World Health Organization (WHO) preventive guidelines. It also examines the feasibility of implementing such protocols within public health systems, highlighting longitudinal outcomes and cost-saving effects linked to reduced hospitalization, disease risk mitigation, and increased healthy life expectancy.
