This article brings a report on the teaching practice in Higher Education of the PARFOR Program - National Plan for the Training of Basic Education Teachers in the municipality of São Paulo de Olivença in the State of Amazonas. In the study we present a brief history of the Training Program and also the educational reality of the State of Amazonas, also focusing on the implementation of the Program and the permanence of teachers in these Training courses. It can be seen that ethnic-racial issues need to be debated, discussed and analyzed by teachers who participate in PARFOR training courses, as they allow refl ection on the positions adopted in the social context, as well as in the school context. Pedagogical practices should prioritize the development of didactic strategies to combat discrimination, in particular, racial discrimination in the school environment of teachers.
