Abstract

This scientific article analyzes the social function of advocacy under the aegis of the Federal Constitution of 1988, transcending traditional contentious action to focus on the pedagogical and preventive role played by the Commissions of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). The research problem investigates how institutional advocacy can act in mitigating social vulnerabilities through legal education and community support. The general objective is to demonstrate the effectiveness of programs such as "OAB Goes to School" and commissions for the defense of women's rights in the realization of active citizenship. The methodology employed is the deductive method, with bibliographic and documentary research, analyzing doctrines, legislation, and institutional reports up to the year 2021. The results indicate that the interaction between lawyers, the school environment, and social services creates a protection network that instrumentalizes society for the exercise of rights, preventing conflicts and domestic violence. It is concluded that advocacy, by leaving offices and entering the community public sphere, reaffirms its indispensability to the administration of justice and strengthens the Democratic State of Law.
